Katiejo Franks Licensed Educator and Professional Tutor Clovis, New Mexico
Hello, my name is Katie Franks. Thank you for visiting my site. I am a Clovis, New Mexico resident with a passion for education but more importantly, the process of learning.
I am an active learner my self and currently investing much of my free time in learning about permaculutre (an agricultural philosophy) and a craft called Junk Journaling. I believe that people of all ages are capable of learning about what ever topic interests them. Through out the weeks, I conduct my own research using multiple sources: websites, public library books, observations of nature, my own experiments, and interviews with local community members. It is through these sources that I will obtain a substantial knowledge base on the topics of my interest. My husband, family, and friends call me a 'go-getter' because when I want to know more about a topic or to learn a certain skill, there is little to nothing that will stop me. I dive in head first and love the adventure that comes within the learning process. Once the process of research and discovery begins, I energetically begin applying what I've learned in a whirlwind of hands on activities.
God has blessed me with a gift for teaching others and I just love being of service to people. My passion is to help both children and adults to know HOW to learn. The subject or WHAT to learn is up to the individual. A persons personal goals, interests, and hobbies determine the content to be learned. My specialty is to help people discover how they learn best, to know what resources are available to them, and what strategies can be used to quickly move through the learning process and reach the goals they set out to accomplish.
I am currently a licensed secondary education teacher in the state of New Mexico with history emphasis. I attended college in Phoenix, Arizona and hold a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and a Bachelors Degree in History with a Political Science minor. I taught middle school for three years and high school freshmen for five. Rather than continuing to teaching in public schools, I have shifted my skills to Discover Tracks, my local tutoring business which focuses on helping K-12 home-school kids as well as, working professionals who are attending college.
